After the first snow, stories about stars and animals can be told. It was the Holy people, who carefully placed the constellations in the sky. In the south was Kaalogi, or butterfly constellation. To the east was Shash, or bear constellation, which heralded in the spring and end of hibernation. Coyote saw the Holy people placing the stars in the sky and wanted to participate. After placing some stars in the sky and naming them after himself he got impatient. When no one was looking, he grabbed the buckskin containing the remaining stars and flung them randomly, filling in the rest of the night sky.
Our ornaments feature animals like Bear as well as other Christmas and winter symbols that remind Artist Lei Thomas of his childhood.
